When we travel, gay friendly travel destinations are not really a priority. These days the majority of countries are ambivalent to one’s sexual preferences. We choose destinations based on attractions, costs and favourability. Of course being members of the fairy fay we have to check out the “scene” to see what’s on the slab, and naturally gay friendly/owned establishments are supported over others.

Just looking at Grecian art and wishing I could have attended the Olympic games back in the day, its no wonder that Greece is on the list. Athens, the capital city, is home to a number of gay-friendly bars and clubs, as well as the annual Athens Pride festival, which takes place every June and attracts visitors from around the world.
Mykonos, a popular island destination known for its beaches and nightlife, has a large LGBT community and is home to several gay-friendly bars and clubs, including Jackie O’ Beach Club and Babylon.
Santorini, another popular island destination, also has a growing LGBT scene, with many establishments in the town of Oia welcoming gay travelers.

Every time I put the thoughts of USA + LGBT together, Robin William & Nathan Lane in “The Birdcage” come to mind. “You do an eclectic celebration of the dance! You do Fosse, Fosse, Fosse! You do Martha Graham, Martha Graham, Martha Graham! Or Twyla, Twyla, Twyla! Or Michael Kidd, Michael Kidd, Michael Kidd, Michael Kidd! Or Madonna, Madonna, Madonna!’’

Naughty, Naughty Homophobic Countries to Avoid!
Unfortunately, there are still many countries in the world where being gay is either illegal or not socially accepted. It’s important for LGBT travelers to be aware of these countries and their policies in order to avoid any potential danger or discrimination. Here are some examples of countries where being gay is illegal or not socially accepted:
- Saudi Arabia – Homosexuality is illegal and punishable by imprisonment or even death in Saudi Arabia.
